This balance board with genuine walnut veneer on the top and ash on the bottom is not only beautiful, but with its dimensions of 88x34cm and a rocker and concave shape ideal for all body sizes and skill levels. All you have to do is get on your unique piece and start surfing!

Description

On this balance board, the top is made of walnut and the bottom of ash, two extremely beautiful, decorative natural wood veneers.
With the dimensions of 88x34cm it is suitable for every body size and with approx. 2kg amazingly light.
We didn't waste any effort with the shape and integrated both a rocker and a slight concave. This opens the door to a seemingly infinite variety of tricks.
Learn more about the shape and the construction under the tabs "Shape" and "Construction".

All our completes are varnished on the top with our transparent grip. This gives you maximum grip and safety without losing the beautiful wooden look. If you want to skip the grip and just have an oiled surface on top, you are welcome to let us know.
Alternatively, you can also create your own customised balance board with our Configurator .

It may be that some completes are already in stock. However, as we are a very small company and we do not want to produce excess, some boards may also only be finished on request. All boards are made by hand. This may result in a delivery time of 2 weeks.
If you would like to receive your board extra quickly and shorten the delivery time, please send an e-mail to info@karaboards.com or contact us via the contact form. We will then try our best to shorten the delivery time.

Please note that the real product may vary slightly in colour and grain from the images shown. Wood is a naturally growing product. As such, each grain is unique and cannot be controlled. We try to find a use for each decorative veneer to minimise surplus and therefore environmental impact. The colouring also depends on external influences such as light exposure.

Shape

KARA balance boards have a unique shape. Visually very appealing, but also extremely functional to bring the ultimate surf feeling into your living room.

Surf Shape
The outer contour of your Balance Board is inspired by classic fishtail surfboards. However, it was important to us not to make the nose and tail too narrow. Your feet should have the maximum possible standing area without destroying the appealing look. The length of 88 cm is a little longer than usual on the market, but in our eyes just right to have fun for longer. The width of 34 cm is also larger than most other balance boards: you should feel comfortable even parallel to the roll quickly. Our balance boards are built for practising surf moves, and turns on the roll are part of that.

Rocker
The curved rocker shape is a must in our eyes. It ensures that your feet are better "locked in" and that weight shifts are effortless. It also means that the nose and tail have more distance to the ground, making more radical moves possible. For the pros, a rocker shape is the gateway to seemingly endless trick variations.

Concave
We did not waste any effort. Our balance boards are three-dimensionally curved. With a simple rocker shape without concave, the contact patch between balance board and cork roller would be a line. With our additional concave, we create a punctual contact. This leads to a drastic improvement of the board's turning ability on the roll. Maximum surf feeling!

Construction

The special feature of our balance boards is that the core is made of a 4mm thick paulownia veneer, the same lightweight wood that is known from real wooden surfboards. This core is wrapped in several layers of lengthwise and crosswise glued birch veneers and the extremely beautiful decorative natural wood veneers of your choice. There is nothing more wonderful than the beauty of Mother Nature. All these layers are pressed onto our unique mould and held together by a glue known and established in the skateboard industry.

The paulownia core has enabled us to reduce the weight of our boards by about 0.5 kg without using harmful composite materials or epoxy resins. We only use real wood, a water-based and therefore non-toxic glue and organic varnishes.

Usage information

Balance boarding can be dangerous if you are not careful.

The balance board is not a toy and not suitable for children under 20kg and/or 14 years. Max. Weight 100kg / 220lbs.
It is intended for private use only and is not suitable for use in commercial environments.

Please use the balance board only as described in the instruction manual. Any other use is considered improper and may result in damage. The manufacturer or dealer is not liable for damage caused by improper or incorrect use.

Precautions
- To avoid injuries, especially as an inexperienced beginner, you should wear appropriate protective equipment, such as trainers, knee and elbow pads, sports gloves and a safety helmet.
- Do not use the balance board on public roads or pavements.
- Use the balance board mainly on flat, dry surfaces without sand, gravel, stones or other obstacles. Hard surfaces such as concrete or wood/laminate floors are best suited (but watch out for possible damage) or specially constructed surfaces such as skateboard surfaces. However, to protect surfaces such as your wooden floor, we recommend using a soft surface such as yoga mats or rugs. On grass, a slightly larger roll works better.
- Do not attempt to pull or push people on the balance board as this may cause injury.
- Jumping on the balance board can be dangerous and lead to injuries.
- The balance board is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or persons with insufficient experience and/or understanding, unless they are supervised by a responsible person who ensures their safety.
- Please note that the maximum load capacity of 100 kg must not be exceeded.

Care instructions, cleaning and maintenance:

- Wood splinters or tears on the board can be smoothed with sandpaper.
- Do not use harsh or abrasive cleaners.
- Never expose the balance board and accessories to high temperatures (e.g. an oven) or weather conditions (e.g. rain).
- The balance board and accessories should not be immersed in water or other liquids.
- Avoid moisture, dripping or splashing water to protect the board and accessories.
- The balance board should not be used in damp or wet environments.
- Any changes to the original parts, materials or construction of the balance board, as well as misuse and damage, can seriously affect the balance board's performance.
- Do not use aggressive or abrasive cleaning agents or brushes with metal or nylon brushes, sharp or metallic cleaning utensils such as knives, hard spatulas and the like. These could damage the surfaces and the structural integrity.
- Avoid getting liquids, solvents or strong cleaning agents on the board or the cork roll. These substances can destroy the components and cause hazards.
- The cork roller is an essential accessory to the board and can be replaced. There is no fixed schedule for changing the roller. However, if the roll is damaged or worn, it should be replaced with a new one.
- Please use only water or a gentle soap solution on a slightly damp sponge to clean the board. Other cleaning agents or too much water can damage the board.
- After cleaning, allow the board to dry completely before storing it again.

Storage
- Make sure that all balance board components are completely dry before storing them.
- Always store the balance board in a dry place to avoid damage from moisture.
- Avoid direct sunlight and extreme weather conditions such as heat or cold, as these can damage the material.

- Avoid using the balance board on public roads or in places where you could cause danger or injury.

First steps / Application
- Place the cork roll in front of you and check that it does not slip on the floor.
- It is recommended to use a rubber mat as a base that adheres well to the floor and on which the cork roller cannot slip away.
- Place the balance board on the cork roll so that it is at 90 degrees to the roll and the centre of the board is on the roll.
- Place your dominant foot on the outer third of the board and keep the other foot on the floor first.
- When your dominant foot is secure on the board, slowly shift your weight from one side of the board to the other and try to keep your balance.
- In the beginning, you can also hold on to a stable support with your hands, for example a sturdy chair, to get a feel for the balance board.
- Repeat this process several times to familiarise yourself with the board.
- If you manage to keep your balance, you can try to move the board slightly back and forth with gentle body movements.
- To stop or step off the balance board, carefully shift your weight to one side until the board touches the ground. Then put one foot on the ground and step off safely.

Disposal:
- Please note that the packaging of the balance board should be disposed of separately. Paper, art paper and cardboard should be disposed of as waste paper and packaging and foils should be disposed of via the appropriate recyclables collection.
- It is important to know that balance boards must not be disposed of with household waste.
